A Different Kind of Chiropractic Office

At Sunrise Health Institute, we believe the body is remarkably well designed and has a natural ability to heal and adapt. Our job is to look for areas that may be interfering with that process and help your body function as well as it can.

Dr. Matt has been caring for people in Stillwater since 2002. Many of the patients who find us have already tried other approaches and are looking for something different. Here, that means gentle chiropractic care, straightforward conversations, and an office where you can feel comfortable asking questions.
Called Back to Stillwater

Stillwater wasn’t originally part of Dr. Matt’s plan. He attended college at Oklahoma State University, then left Oklahoma for chiropractic school with every intention of building his life somewhere else.

About six months before graduation, that changed. While driving through Stillwater on his way to his grandmother’s birthday celebration in Kansas, Dr. Matt felt that God was directing him to come back and open a practice here. As he began looking into the possibility, the pieces seemed to fall into place.

He also saw a need. At the time, it was difficult to find gentler, instrument-based chiropractic care nearby. He opened Sunrise Health Institute almost 25 years ago and remained in the practice’s original location for 20 years before moving to the current office.

Gentle Care Without the Popping and Cracking

One of the biggest reasons people seek out our office is the way we adjust. Rather than relying primarily on traditional twisting or cracking techniques, we use the ArthroStim®, a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers light, rapid impulses.

The approach allows our adjusters to work with specific areas while keeping adjustments comfortable and precise. It’s also adaptable for people at different stages of life, from children and college athletes to pregnant women and older adults.

Just as importantly, we take time to explain what he’s finding in plain language. We want you to understand what’s going on, whether or not care in our office may be appropriate, and what your options are. If another type of provider would be a better fit, we’ll tell you that too.

Celebrating Every Step Forward

Some patient stories stay with you.

One longtime patient came to our practice years after having back surgery. He was still struggling to stand for long periods of time and wasn’t sure how much better things could realistically get.

Progress didn’t happen overnight. There were smaller changes along the way, but about six months into care, he told Dr. Matt that he could stand for an entire hour without pain or fatigue forcing him to sit down.

He has now been a patient for well over a decade and has returned to many of the activities he enjoys, including golf. More recently, he played 52 holes over one weekend.

Stories like his are why we started sharing our “wins of the week” during staff meetings. They remind us to celebrate the progress our patients make—whether it’s a big milestone or something as simple as being able to return to an everyday activity they’ve been missing.

Every step forward matters.
