Meet Dr. Matthew Allen
A Personal Journey Into Chiropractic
Dr. Matt knew from a young age that he wanted to help people with their health. Before he turned 10, he had already been in and out of the hospital 27 times. Later in life, he experienced daily headaches for more than a decade.
Those experiences shaped the way he thought about health and wellness. While he was in college, he discovered chiropractic and found an approach that fit with his desire to help people take a more natural approach to their well-being.
Learning How the Body Works
Dr. Matt attended Life University in Marietta, Georgia, where he studied a wide range of subjects, including neuroanatomy, biochemistry, clinical nutrition, physical rehabilitation, neurology, human physiology, diagnosis, and chiropractic adjusting techniques.
He opened Sunrise Health Institute in 2002. Like many new chiropractors, he entered practice with big ideas about what chiropractic could do. More than two decades of experience have given him a deeper and more measured perspective.
Today, his focus is on helping patients when he believes that spinal alignment, movement, or nerve interference may be playing a role in how they are feeling or functioning.
What He Loves About Being a Chiropractor
Ask Dr. Matt what he enjoys most about being a chiropractor, and his answer is simple:
Unlocking potential.
I love helping people get back to doing better than they thought they could.”
He especially enjoys working with people dealing with headaches and concerns following concussions, along with neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, and problems involving the shoulders, knees, elbows, and ankles.
He also knows that chiropractic care can look very different from what many people expect. Dr. Matt commonly uses the ArthroStim®, a handheld adjusting instrument that delivers light, rapid impulses without traditional twisting, popping, or cracking.
For many patients, that gentle approach is one of the reasons they feel comfortable choosing our practice.

Family Is a Big Part of Who We Are
Dr. Matt and his wife, Kember, have two children, Baden and Ryder. Family has always been an important part of the way he thinks about practice and caring for people.
He adjusted both of his children within an hour of their births and has had the privilege of caring for patients through many different stages of life.
That family-minded approach is also reflected in the atmosphere we’ve created at Sunrise Health Institute. We want our office to feel relaxed, friendly, and welcoming—more like a place you know and feel comfortable in than a clinical office.
