Chiropractic Care
Nagging headaches, a stiff neck, or low back pain can make everyday activities harder than they need to be. Maybe you’ve tried other approaches, even chiropractic care elsewhere, and you’re still looking for answers.
What Chiropractic Care Really Does
Your spine does more than help you stand upright. It protects your spinal cord, allows you to move, and works closely with your nervous system.
When spinal joints aren’t moving as well as they should, you may experience stiffness, discomfort, or restricted movement. Chiropractic adjustments aim to improve joint mobility and help your body move more comfortably.
We take time to explain what we’re finding, how your spine works, and what your options might be. No confusing medical talk, just straightforward answers.
How Chiropractic Care May Help
People visit our Stillwater chiropractor for all sorts of reasons. Some have been uncomfortable for years, while others are dealing with a recent injury. Common concerns include:
- Headaches and certain types of migraines
- Neck discomfort and stiffness following a concussion
- Neck pain and restricted movement
- Low back pain and sciatica
- Shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle discomfort
For concussion-related concerns, appropriate medical evaluation comes first. Chiropractic care may be considered for associated musculoskeletal symptoms when suitable.
A Gentler Way to Adjust
Not a fan of twisting, popping, or cracking? You’re in good company!
Dr. Allen primarily uses the ArthroStim, a handheld instrument that delivers gentle, repetitive impulses, approximately 12 per second. Before adjusting, he checks the muscles along your spine for patterns of tension and imbalance that may indicate areas needing attention.
This instrument-based approach allows for adjustments without the twisting movements often associated with traditional chiropractic techniques. It’s one reason many patients who were previously hesitant about chiropractic care feel more comfortable giving it a try.
Other Chiropractic Techniques
Depending on your history and examination findings, care may also involve other approaches:
Biocranial technique: A hands-on cranial approach involving a slow, sustained stretching movement around the neck.
NUCCA upper cervical adjusting: A light-pressure technique focusing on the uppermost neck vertebra. Dr. Allen offers this selectively to patients who have previously received NUCCA care.
Our chiropractor has also pursued additional training in upper cervical adjusting, cranial techniques, pregnancy and infant care, and extremity adjusting. He’s certified in Nasal Release Technique, a separate procedure involving brief inflation of a small balloon-like device within the nasal passages. Its potential benefits and limitations can be discussed during a consultation.
